Connection

A unified vision across Opportunity Youth serving organizations, both backbones and service providers, in California is vital to collaborative and lasting change for young people. We seek to create a common language and narrative about the current state of young people in our communities. COYN will create a network of organizations in order to facilitate the sharing of best and effective practices and improve the quality of service and practice for Opportunity Youth. 

Youth Leadership

Nothing About Us Without Us. No policy should be decided without the full and direct participation of members of the groups affected by that policy. COYN will embed sustainable, meaningful youth engagement and leadership across the state. We recognize that the sustainability of the work lies in the energy and passion of the young people most affected and their development into leadership. 

COYN hopes to have a fellows program in the near future of young people working on state and national policy.

Action

COYN has the ability to respond to, and promote legislation and policies at local and state level that will support the outcomes for Opportunity Youth. With the ability to develop and promote common data points, metrics and stories that tell the Opportunity Youth story in COYN communites to funders and legislatures to gain a deeper understanding of both the probelms and solutions facing young people and their communities.
